10 reasons why the Blu-Ray Disc will not survive 2009.

  1. Hottest laptops don't even have a disc drive - Macbook Air to ASUS Netbooks
  2. I can watch HD movies online - Hulu.com, NetFlix, etc.
  3. TV's are launching with built in ability to download HD movies from the web
  4. PS3, XBox360, Vudu, and a slew of other boxes
  5. It took 3 years for the DVD player to go from $1000 to $100, http://is.gd/eCAK Blu-Ray Players have dropped below $200 in less than a year.
  6. Upscaling DVD players look OK. (not close to Blu-Ray quality but at least it's widescreen)
  7. On Demand movies from Cable & Satellite
  8. Issues with the economy & the movie industry are hurting sales.
  9. VCR to DVD was a huge jump! DVD to Blu-Ray not as dramatic.
  10. Super short window till HD movies online are common place.
